Hello everyone! While searching around for more information on my last name, I discovered its origins as an old Gaelic name, however I have absolutley no idea how to pronounce it. Could someone on here perhaps spell out how it is pronounced? Thank you!

Here it is:

O' Raithbheartaigh

Hello from Chicago. ^_^ I have a sort of inexplicable interest in all things Irish, I love Celtic music, and am learning Gaeilge, so this seemed like a good community for me. =)

Now that that's covered - does anyone happen to know the Gaelic translation for "moon"? Thanks in advance if you can help. Cheers, everybody.

just stopping by to say hi...i'm not Irish at all but i'm dating this guy, John, and he's FROM Ireland, he moved here 4 years ago, he's trying to teach me some Gaelic so i know how to say a few things but i'd like to learn more and maybe shock him by saying something to him...he taught me how to say "i love you" and of course "kiss my ass" and he told me how to say "i don't know" because that's my favorite answer and i say it in as many languages as possible...but yea i just wanna learn some more and shock the hell out of him that i know how to speak SOME Gaelic :-p

I was at a soccer tournament this weekend (I referee), and there were several people from the UK and Ireland coaching there. There was also a spectator, and he was shouting at his team very loudly.
In Gaelic.

Which was very cool, might I add. Despite the fact that no one could understand him.

Greetings, everyone.
I've created a new community for those interested in anything related to the Celtic nations (whether that be heritage, culture, music, etc). Once the community has a larger member-base, there will be weekly posts of links related to something Celtic, as well as weekly mp3's of Celtic music. Please feel free to join or to take a look.

I hope it was alright to promote in this community, but if not, I'll delete the entry.
Slainte!

Hi there.

I've translated the following words into a mixture of Irish and Scottish Gaelic : Peace, Justice, Valour, Truth, Honour, Wisdom and Mercy.

However, I'm having trouble with figuring out the pronunciation of the words and was wondering if anyone here would be able to help me out?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if someone could explain the meaning of "Róisín Dubh" to me, and its backround. Would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
